President’s Message
December 2011 What more can we expect this Year??? How about $6,000 in scholarships to deserving prep school and college candidates? Our 2012 budget is strong thanks to the two Golf Tournaments and the Transportation Supersession fundraisers held in 2011. If you know of a deserving candidate, please ask them to fill out an application. Our November Guest Speaker, Ken Jacobs – Pinellas County, drew the attention of twenty professionals on his ITS presentation. It was a great presentation and it was nice to realize that our own community is on the front line with innovation and planning. Ceviche’s provided an excellent luncheon, and for those who hung around, a fabulous dessert and coffee. Thanks to Mahshid for arranging the venue and menu. Don’t forget our joint Legislative Session with FES Tampa and ASCE West Coast Region on December 13, 2011. Frank Rudd and our local representatives will be there to discuss upcoming legislation as well as to listen to our engineering concerns and issues. E-Week and MATHCOUNTS are right around the corner in February. Our Engineer of the Year (Jon Gotwald) and Student Engineer of the Year (Cristian Rubiano) will be receiving deserved recognition during E-Week on February 24th. Don’t miss it. Jon Gotwald is seeking volunteers to assist on MATHCOUNTS. It is a great cause. Call him. Our Secretary position is currently OPEN. We are looking for a person with community spirit and high energy level that will be committed to the organization. Get off the couch and get involved in something special, you won’t regret it. MERRY CHRISTMAS/HAPPY HOLIDAYS Pete Stasis, P.E. President FES Pinellas |
